The West African Power Pool (WAPP) is a specialized institution of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS). It brings together 14 countries of the regional economic community. The WAPP is made up of public and private companies involved in the generation, transmission and distribution of power in West Africa. The 330 kV WAPP North Core project consists of the construction of a 330 kV transmission line over a length of approximately 875 km between Birnin-Kebbi in Nigeria and Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, passing through Zabori and Niamey in Niger. The project also links Zabori to Malanville in Benin.

The project is co-financed by the World Bank, the African Development Bank, the Agence Française de Developpement, the European Union and the contribution of the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Given the regional dimension of the project, and in order to strengthen its coordination, the Ministers in charge of Energy of the North core countries agreed to establish an institutional framework that includes the creation of a Project Management Unit (PMU) for the implementation of the Project with a central office based in Abuja and local offices in each of the concerned countries.

The PMU of WAPP North Core Project is now recruiting staff to fill the following positions at its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria:

  1. Superintendent
  2. Finance and Accounting Assistant

 

SUPERINTENDENT

Job Summary:

The Superintendent shall assist and support the Administration, Protocol and Logistics Officer in management of all project assets, logistics and supplies, maintenance, insurance and security among others.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  1. University degree in Business or Public Administration, logistics or related area
  2. At least three (3) years of professional experience in a similar position

 

FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING OFFICER

Job Summary:

The assignment of the Finance and Accounting Assistant is to provide support to the Finance Department at the Headquarters in Abuja. The post holder will support in the preparation of accounting records and the compilation of financial data for financial required reports within the policy and procedural guidelines of the Donors and WAPP North Core.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  1. First degree or its equivalent in Accounting, Finance or in a related field;
  2. Must be at least an affiliate / associate member of a recognized accounting body ACCA, ICAN, ICAG etc
  3. At least seven (07) years experience in the field of Accounting or Audit out of which three years of experience must have been acquired in a donor-funded project environment. (A candidate who has a bachelor’s degree, partly qualified with 10 years experience shall be considered)

 

FURTHER INFORMATION

Language

Fluency in French and / or English with a good knowledge of the second language and the ability to use relevant software (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Internet are essential requirement for the positions.

Contract Duration

Positions are envisaged for a duration of approximately 36 months with a six (6-) month probation period.

Candidates will be selected in accordance with the selection of individual consultants set out by World Bank in the "Procurement Regulations for IPF Borrowers (July 2016, revised in November 2017 and August 2018.
