A delegation from Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU) on a study visit to the WAPP Secretariat

On September 20 & 21, 2022, the Secretary General of WAPP received in Cotonou, Benin, a delegation of four (4) people from the ECOWAS Project Preparation and Development Unit (PPDU), led by the ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalization , Mr. Sediko DOUKA, for a study visit. The objective of the visit was to understand best practices, approach of WAPP to project development and learn from WAPP’s fund mobilization experience.

The Delegation comprised of Mr. Sediko DOUKA, the ECOWAS Commissioner for Infrastructure, Energy and Digitalization; Mr. Eugene CAPO-CHICHI, PPDU Managing Director; Mr. Vicente ABAD BOSCA, PPDU Resource and Mobilization Officer; Mr. Kebra FYE, PPDU Chief of Division and Dr. Abdoulaye ZANOU, CDP Coordinator.

The participants, including the Managing Director of PPDU had the opportunity to engage the Secretary General of WAPP, Mr. Siengui A. KI as well as the Directors and experts of the Planning, Investment Programming and Environmental Safeguards (PIPES) and the Information and Coordination Center (ICC) of WAPP.

During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:

  1. The processes of development of the ECOWAS Master Plan for the Development of Regional Power Generation and Transmission Infrastructure (2019 to 2033);
  2. The State of the Development of WAPP Infrastructure Programs and the Regional Information and Coordination Centre; and
  3. The Preparation and conduct of the WAPP Technical and Financial Partners coordination meetings.

The study visit also included a tour of WAPP’s ICC project located in Calavi, the Republic of Benin. The study visit ended on Wednesday, September 21, 2022.
