WAPP welcomes the new ProMERC II Project Manager of GIZ

On Friday, January 16, 2026, the Secretary General of WAPP, Mr. Abdoulaye DIA, had the pleasure of welcoming the new ProMERC II Project Manager of GIZ, Mr. André ROENNE, for an introductory visit and exchange of views.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss ongoing areas of cooperation as well as future perspectives, particularly with regard to the development of the Regional Electricity Market, institutional capacity building, and the promotion of an integrated, sustainable, and inclusive energy sector.

The meeting continued with a visit to the WAPP Information and Coordination Center (ICC).

It is worth emphasizing that GIZ is among WAPP’s long-standing strategic partners, a cooperation built on a shared vision and a common commitment to regional energy integration in West Africa.
