** Following its third session held on October 31st, 2008 in Cotonou, Benin, the General Assembly of the WAPP granted full membership to CENPOWER GENERATION COMPANY Ltd., developer of a 300 to 400 MW thermal power plant in Ghana, and membership with observer status to the Office National d’Electricité du Maroc (ONE).**

MANDATE

The WAPP Secretariat is the administrative body which will support the Executive Board in the accomplishment of its duties. Its mandate is to:

• Facilitate the expansion of power generation and transmission facilities ;

• Coordinate planning and operation of power system ;

• Ensure sustainable development through safe environmental practices ;

• Facilitate the implementation of institutional frameworks and the development of utilities ;

• Promote effective communication between WAPP members, donors and the public.
